Author Guidelines

The International Journal of Business and Psychology (IJBPSY) welcomes original and rigorous research that advances knowledge at the intersection of business, management, organizations, and psychology. The journal publishes empirical, conceptual, theoretical, and review articles that make a clear contribution to scholarship and, where relevant, managerial or organizational practice.

Scope and Contribution

Manuscripts should address questions relevant to the scope of IJBPSY and demonstrate a clear contribution to the existing literature. Relevant areas include, but are not limited to, organizational behaviour, human resource management, industrial and organizational psychology, leadership, entrepreneurship, marketing and consumer psychology, employee wellbeing, workplace behaviour, decision making, innovation, organizational change, business ethics, and emerging issues concerning technology, artificial intelligence, work, organizations, and society.

IJBPSY is methodologically inclusive. Quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, experimental, review, and conceptual research are welcome where the methodological approach is appropriate to the research question and applied rigorously.

Originality

Manuscripts submitted to IJBPSY must represent original work that has not been published previously and is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal. Authors must disclose any substantial overlap with previously published or submitted work, including conference papers, working papers, preprints, theses, or other related manuscripts where relevant.

All submissions may be screened for similarity, plagiarism, inappropriate duplication, data manipulation, or other concerns relating to research integrity. Suspected misconduct may be investigated in accordance with recognised principles of publication ethics.

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be written in clear academic English. Authors should organise their manuscript according to the conventions appropriate to their research design. Empirical articles will normally include an introduction, theoretical or literature background, methodology, results or findings, discussion, implications, limitations, and conclusion. Alternative structures are acceptable for qualitative, conceptual, review, or other forms of scholarship where justified by the nature of the research.

The title should be concise and informative. An abstract should clearly communicate the purpose of the study, methodological approach where applicable, major findings or arguments, and principal contribution. Authors should provide appropriate keywords that accurately represent the manuscript.

Tables and figures should be numbered consecutively, referred to within the manuscript, and accompanied by clear titles or captions. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material.

References

References should be accurate, complete, and consistent. Authors are responsible for ensuring that every work cited in the text appears in the reference list and that every entry in the reference list is appropriately cited in the manuscript. Digital Object Identifiers should be included wherever available.

IJBPSY uses APA style for citations and references. Authors should follow the current edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants must have been conducted in accordance with applicable ethical standards. Where institutional ethical approval was required, authors should identify the approving institution or committee and provide relevant approval information. Where appropriate, manuscripts should explain how informed consent was obtained.

Authors must not fabricate, falsify, selectively manipulate, or misrepresent data, evidence, images, citations, or research procedures.

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions to the work and who accept responsibility for the submitted manuscript. All listed authors must approve the manuscript and its submission to IJBPSY. Individuals who contributed to the work but do not satisfy the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately.

Changes to authorship after submission, including the addition, removal, or rearrangement of authors, require an explanation and approval from all affected authors and are subject to editorial approval.

Conflicts of Interest and Funding

Authors must disclose financial, professional, personal, institutional, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation. Where no competing interests exist, authors should provide an appropriate statement declaring this.

All sources of financial support for the research should be disclosed, including the name of the funding organisation and grant number where applicable. Authors should also indicate the role of the funder in the research where relevant.

Data Transparency

IJBPSY encourages transparency regarding the evidence supporting published research. Authors should provide a data availability statement where appropriate, indicating whether the data, materials, analytical code, instruments, or other research materials can be accessed and under what conditions. Where data cannot be shared because of ethical, legal, contractual, confidentiality, or privacy restrictions, this should be stated.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence and AI assisted technologies cannot be listed as authors because authorship requires human responsibility and accountability.

Authors must transparently disclose substantive use of generative AI or AI assisted technologies in preparing a submitted manuscript. The disclosure should identify the tool and explain how it was used. Where AI was used as part of the research methodology, including data collection, analysis, coding, simulation, or generation of research materials, its use should be described sufficiently in the methodology to permit appropriate evaluation of the research.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, citations, and intellectual content of their manuscripts regardless of whether AI assisted technologies were used. AI generated material must not be used to fabricate evidence, references, data, participants, quotations, results, or other research content.

Routine tools used solely for spelling, grammar, formatting, or reference management do not normally require detailed disclosure.

Peer Review

Submission of a manuscript does not guarantee that it will be sent for external review. The editorial team may conduct an initial assessment of relevance, originality, scholarly contribution, methodological or theoretical quality, and compliance with journal requirements.

Manuscripts considered suitable for IJBPSY will normally undergo independent peer review. Editorial decisions are based on scholarly quality, contribution, methodological or theoretical rigor, relevance to the journal, and the comments of reviewers. The journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts at any stage where serious concerns regarding quality, ethics, originality, or research integrity arise.

Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted through the IJBPSY online submission system. Authors should ensure that all required metadata, including author names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, manuscript title, abstract, and keywords, are entered accurately during submission.

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal and for ensuring that all coauthors are informed about the submission and subsequent editorial decisions.

Authors should remove information identifying the authors from the manuscript file when required for anonymous peer review.

By submitting a manuscript to IJBPSY, authors confirm that they have read and complied with the journal's submission requirements and relevant policies on research and publication ethics.
